Things were repeated, points pounded and pounded- no use beating a dead horse. In addition, the book needed to be significantly shorter. The only reason I continued to plow through it, was because the writing was good and the story was interesting. To be honest, he sounded quite mechanical and like he should have given his nose a good blow before reading. I understand wanting to take ownership of your own writing by narrating it, but Holiday should never have taken this liberty. I listed to this on audio, which Holiday himself narrates. How did he manage to get all this information from each of his sources? I’d love to know. I loved the intricate details, the insider scoop, and the juicy info. The information is great and his comparisons to Machiavelli are brilliant. The information in this book is incredible, and the steps that were taken to destroy a media outlet (when strongly protected by the first amendment) are really intriguing. The calculated attack on Gawker by Thiel is brilliant and terrifying.

He then devotes years of his life to its destruction and collapse. Peter Thiel, creator of PayPal, is outed by Gawker Media. When I first heard the summary of this book, I was fascinated. Some may remember the juicy celebrity news source “Gawker”, and its some of its sister sites such as Jezebel.
